Have a hard day at work or stressful day at home?  Your little one feeling sick?  Did they get a bump on their head?  Did you pull a muscle running the treadmill this morning?

These are all things that Cuddle Monkey’s Hot/Cold Herbal Compress can help with!  The Herbal Compress is a canvas covered bag of flax seed, chamomile, and lavender that when warmed can help create a soothing sensation, or when cold help with boo boos and other ailments. Kathy at Cuddle Monkey sent us one of her Herbal Compresses to review for this upcoming Go Green Event and since I’ve gotten it in the mail It’s been used several times already!

The Hot/Cold Herbal Compress Kathy at Cuddle Monkey made for us!

First I kept the compress in the freezer for when someone had a “boo boo” I could use it as a cold compress to help the swelling.  Worked for once but not after with SAP since she had her Boo Boo Bunny and Boo Boo Gator rice bags already for just such occasions!

So after that it was designated “SAP”s Cuddle Monkey Pillow”.  SAP got sick and was not feeling well so I warmed the Herbal Compress up in the microwave for 30 seconds and SAP laid down and held it on her tummy…it seemed instantly she was calmer!  It seemed to have a soothing effect on her.  So the whole time she was sick I heated up her “Cuddle Monkey” and let her cuddle with it to bed with her, and it has become a ritual now! SAP loves her Cuddle Monkey!

It breaks my  heart to see SAP sick!  Here she is cuddling with her “Cuddle Monkey Pillow” after it was heated in the microwave.  She took it to bed with her and it helped sooth her to sleep!

The bag is really well sewn, I always worry about the filling coming out of stuffed bags like this and SAP eating it, but there doesn’t look like it could happen with the Herbal Compress at all.  Also, though the lavender and camomile scents are added and are soothing they are not overpowering at all.  So if you are sensitive to scents no worries with this compress!  SAP has always slept with her Cloud B animal pillows and they have a small packet of herbal scents inside them, this scent is very similar and so I think it not only calms SAP but helps her sleep at night.  Always nice for me!

The flax seed mixture the Herbal Compress is stuffed with: smells so good!

If we ever get the Cuddle Monkey Herbal Compress back from SAP we ourselves plan to use it too.  Since I’ve started to work out more my  muscles have been quite sore!  It would feel nice at the end of the night to relax with the Herbal Compress behind my back or on my sore legs!  SAPsDaDa also has chronic neck and back pain and uses hot and cold compresses, but only has one and it’s not this nice.  Now he can easily go back and forth between hot and cold and it helps him a lot more!  So it looks like we’ll all be fighting over the Cuddle Monkey “Pillow” at the end of the night!

Even Amber, my Waldorf doll, loved the Cuddle Monkey Herbal Compress! lol

What SAPsMaMa Loves about the Cuddle Monkey Herbal Compress:

  • Perfect size to cover bumps, bruises or sore muscles and limbs.  Also perfect size for adults or little ones to hold onto (or cuddle with as SAP does!)
  • Nice modern look and fabric pattern, something even the guys wouldn’t mind using!
  • Well sewn to last
  • Calming mixture of herbs works great for adults and children

Suggestions For Improvement:

  • You’ve already done my first suggestion!  I’d love to see these herbal compresses shaped like animals for the kids, and your owl herbal compresses are very cute!  A monkey would definitely be very suiting for a Cuddle Monkey herbal compress too!
  • I’d love if you offered different scents/mixtures for the herbs in the compress.  Such as instead of lavender and chamomile, which are great for relaxing, maybe an orange ginger mix for energy?  Would be nice to switch up the scent once in a while, I get tired of the same scent all the time with candles and everything alike!
