Uncommon Goods Gifts For Kids Review and Giveaway!

Tired of your child wanting the same toys as every other kid in their class?  Or perhaps you are shopping for someone who is super picky and you need some brand new ideas on what to get them.  The place to go I have found is Uncommon Goods!

Uncommon Goods has a wide selection of unique items that are not everyday average products.  What I love about many of their items are not only are they original and ‘different’ but that many of them are eco-friendly!

Their Kids Gifts section is wonderful and full of great choices for kids of all ages.  We were sent for review their Construction Plate and Utensils Set and their Cate and Levi Purse Pal and were very excited to see SAP’s reaction to both!

A selection of Cate and Levi Purse Pals made from upcycled Wool!  So cute and each looks different!

I had asked they send a Puppy for the Purse Pal and we received an adorable purse made from upcycled wool sweaters in cute colors!  Each Purse Pal looks different and each is unique since they are all made from old sweaters!  No one will look alike!

The super cute Puppy Purse Pal SAP received!

SAP has been in an imitating type of play mode lately so when I surprised her with the Puppy Purse Pal she right away decided to play Mommy!  She got her play cell phone and packed it away in her purse and told me she was going to work.  Of course that ended as soon as she started putting puppy and chicken figurines in the purse!

SAP pretending to be “mommy” playing with her Puppy Purse Pal!

It was very easy for her to open and close and it held well closed so nothing would fall out.  I can see this becoming her new nick-knacks purse!  The only disappointment SAP had was that it was not big enough to fit everything she wished to in the purse pal, so maybe a bit bigger would work a little better, but then it wouldn’t be a purse “pal”! I of course loved how soft and easy to care for it is as well as how durable it will be and that it is eco-friendly!

The Purse Pal was very easy for SAP to open and stayed closed well when she was running around playing!

So you might be thinking “Construction plate/utensils for a girl?!” but don’t say no yet!  Yes the Construction Plate and Utensils is a great gift for a boy, but many girls would love it too!  SAP especially loves cars and trucks so this was going to be a sure hit when it comes to getting her something she’d like!  Your girl not into trucks?  I”d definitely recommend the Garden Set for you then.  Have a boy?  Check out their great Gifts for Boys!

The Construction plate and utensils Eating Set!

I tried to take pictures of how great this kids set of dishes worked for us but decided it was better represented with a video!  So voila, here is a short video of  SAP eating with her Construction Plate and Utensils set!

As you can tell SAPsDaDa and I had just as much fun eating with her utensils as she did!  I was very impressed at how well the set worked, I was afraid all she would do was play with them “toys”, but in actuality she was a lot less messy!  The plate is well designed to aid in learning how to scoop and fork food and the “bulldozer” helps a lot with pushing food onto the spoon and fork!  I feel not only is she having fun and learning creativity, but she is also learning good eating skills through play!  I would love to see a “Construction cup” addition to complete the set and make the whole meal related but other wise it was perfect!

SAP’s construction set plate all filled with mac&cheese and green beans and ready for construction!

Though it is made of plastic I feel safe letting SAP eat with these toys since they are not only BPA free but are also PVC free, phthalate free, and Lead Free!  I also like how they are made in the USA so I feel good knowing my  money will stay in our country and not in an overseas.  My first worry was also squashed after we first tried it out: The utensil “trucks” do not have moving parts so they are not as difficult to clean as I had dreaded!

Uncommon Goods is located in the States and not only features uncommon products for your shopping needs, but does so with the ethics you wish every company would.  They pledge not to carry products that harm humans or animals and pay particular attention to handmade and recycled products, both of which you can find in many of their categories throughout their store!  Though the major holidays are over I am thinking toward the new year and all the baby showers and birthday parties coming up Uncommon Goods can help me out with.  I am just loving how adorable the Giraffe Gifts are!  As they put it they are “huggable for kids and sophisticated for adults”!  I can’t forget about myself of course….I’m thinking their Wine Gifts are just about right up my alley!

What SAPsMaMa Loves About the Construction Set and Purse Pal:

  • Eco Friendly!  I love how the Purse Pal is made from old wool and re-purposed to a cute and usable toy!
  • Toxin-free!  Not only BPA free but PVC, phthalate, and lead free, plus USA made, can’t beat that!
  • Each Purse Pal is unique, you are giving a truly one of a kind gift.
  • The Construction Eating Set encourages imagination yet teaches skills for eating at the same time..genius!
  • Both products are easy to take care of and clean making my job as mom simple.
  • I like Uncommon Good’s Commitment to the Environment and their Uncommon Mission!  I agree, sustainability does start with integrity in everything you do!  It shows!

Suggestions For Improvement:

  • I wish the Construction Eating Set came with a matching cup to make a complete set! That would be a lot of fun!
  • It would be great for Cate and Levi to have larger purses like their purse pals for toddlers that want to carry around lots of toys!
  • Uncommon Goods, you carry some great eco-friendly, non-toxic products! I’d love to see them displayed on the site and easier for shoppers to find, such as a  main drop down menu.  The “handmade” and “recycled” titles help but don’t cover all the great products you have that fit this category!
