All Terrain AquaSport Sunscreen Review and Giveaway!

It’s sunny, and it’s how outside!  You know it’s summer time!  With record high temperatures and low rainfall it is very tempting to stay indoors with cool air-conditioning, but to keep our families healthy don’t sacrifice these beautiful days indoors, go out and have fun in the sun!

Every year at the beginning of summer we do the same routine with my family.  We sit down and plan our summer trips  and festivals we plan to do.  What often comes with that calender of events is many packing lists and “to buy for summer” lists.  One of the most important things I never forget is sun protection.

Back when SAP was born and was so little, sucking on her hands and everything, I put her in UV clothing and cute sun hats…but now she’s a toddler who has a big mind of her own!  Will she keep those hats and sunglasses on?  No!  Luckily in the past couple years I’ve seen some wonderful changes to the available sunscreens on the market going from brands in chain stores with toxic ingredients (do you want cancer from the sun or from your sunscreen these seem to say to me) to EWG approved sunscreens with great consumer report ratings!

Why are natural sunscreens important?  Most sunscreens in commercial stores these days that are common brands contain oxybenzone and fragrances that can interfere with your hormones.  Your skin is the largest organ on your body and taking care of your skin from the harsh elements is important, but it is necessary to do so right!  Consumer reports also bring into play how “nanoscale zinc and titanium oxides have been linked to potential reproductive and developmental effects”….nano particles are what is used in many commercial sunscreens to make them readily absorb “invisible” into your skin!  Using the EWG Best Sunscreen Guide you can easily be sure to find sunscreens free of these toxic chemicals that will provide you with the sun protection you  need, many without that heafty price tag you may worry about!

So this year I gave a new brand of sunscreen from the EWG list a try not only on SAP but also on myself.  I got the opportunity to try All Terrain’s Aqua Sport sunscreen, which is SPF 30, broad spectrum, water resistant and claiming to be non-greasy….all exactly what I had been looking for for years in a toxin-free sunscreen and been unable to find! I used this sunscreen on myself at the Fair walking around for hours under the hot sun and though it kept me from getting sunburnt (which was excellent), my favorite thing that stood out to me was how it truly was non-greasy!  It rubbed in nice, which I was surprised about as all natural sunscreens I have used in the past have stayed white on my skin!

The big test came with SAP.  Would she be willing to wear it?  Let me put it on her?  Will it keep her from getting sunburnt while at the beach in water and on land?  A trip to the nearest clean water beach gave us the answers I was hoping for!  The little one stayed happy and sunburnt free, the sunscreen stood the test of water, and a pleasant surprise…I had no problems with sand sticking to her skin, a common problem with sunscreens I have used!   Unfortunately I was not so lucky!  Not the smartest thing I have done, I sunscreened my body before stripping down to my swim suit.  Therefore everything that was lotioned with All Terrain Aqua Sport was fine whereas my back and belly where I had missed putting sunscreen on were completely burnt and now itchy/peeling!  If anything can show the difference between if you wore sunscreen or not that sure did, All-Terrain not only worked wonderful for my child’s needs and my own, it has taught me the value of remembering to use sunscreen even if you think you will be out for “only a short time”.

Do you want a chance to test out All Terrain’s Aqua Sport sunscreen yourself?!  It’s your lucky day!  They’re giving away the same water-resistant, non-greasy sunscreen that SAP and I tested out to one lucky SAPsMaMa follower!  Enter below in RaffleCopter for your chance!
